Target Audience

Target Audience :

Our target audience is anyone above the age of 16, as we know that the short film will include scenes that won't be appropriate for anyone under the age of 16, such as drug use and alcohol drinking. I think they will be the type of person that would listen to all sort of music, and someone who has a very open mind. I think that other girls, the same age as the main character will be the most interested, this is due to wanting to know how someone completely different (or possibly similar) lives.
We feel like a slightly more alternative type of person, someone who has had many experiences, and is interested in looking at things that are different from the norm, something that stands out, would want to watch our short film.
We believe that anyone that would be interested in watching our short film, will be be watching it for "social realism" This is because the film is based around the story of what could be someone's real life story.

We also feel like the film could be used as an educational program as well, possibly used to show young people the consequences of drugs, and how young people are easily influenced.
It could be used in association with http://www.talktofrank.com/  and http://www.bdp.org.uk/bdp_aboutbdp.htm (Bristol Drugs Project)

Stereotypes

We have chosen to do a short film, within the genre Teenage Romance. We will probably be using characters that we know personally, and therefore the different groups of people we'll have are teenagers, both male and female.

The common stereotypes associated with these groups of people are as follows :

female teenagers : underage drinking, sex, teenage pregnancy, main interest is boys, makeup, don't get along with parents

male teenagers : violent, underage sex and drinking, sporty, sex obsessed, computer games, not very social, modern = more bothered about what they look like.

As we will be basing the short film around a teenage couple, I guess there will be a lot of modern representations, with the boy being sensitive or caring about the way he looks, and the girl being more independant and not doing everything to please the boy.

–4) what changes have there been in society which have impacted on the representations of your groups?

There have been no major changes in society that have a huge impact on the representation of teenagers. However Britain now has the highest rate of teenage preganancies, and an extremely high alcohol consumption rate, which in turn gives teenagers an even more negative representation.

Teenagers have been around forever obviously, but in the 1950's they became a target market, films, tv shows and magazines were being made specifically for teenagers, creating further stereotypes such as teenage girls only being bothered about fashion, makeup and men, being housewives, and teenage boys only wanting to have sex, get drunk, drive cars etc.

However as the times changed, women were allowed to vote... etctgahfudskfcsdh

Women have grown up knowing they can do everything that a male can,.
